Walked in off the street after a workout, and ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee and BBQ pork banh mi. Both were excellent, service was friendly, and I’ll definitely be back for their spicy lover banh mi! The pricing is what it should be, not like these other gentrified spots serving $20 inauthentic sandwiches.

During my recent visit to So Pho 88, I had the opportunity to sample a diverse selection of Vietnamese cuisine, each dish offering its own unique blend of flavors and textures.

Starting with the Vietnamese Spring Rolls and Vegetable Spring Rolls, I found these appetizers to be somewhat enjoyable. The traditional blend of fresh ingredients encased in rice paper offered a refreshing start to the meal.

The standout items included the Steam Pork Bun and Grandma's Pan Fried Pork Buns, both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. These buns exhibited a delightful mix of savory flavors within their soft, steamed dough or crispy fried exteriors. The Houses Special Scallion Pancakes also stood out, showcasing a pleasing crispiness and likely a delectable incorporation of scallions.

Moving on, the Steam Mushroom Vegi Bun, Steam BBQ Pork Buns, and Grandma's Pan Fried Pork Buns were also enjoyed during my dining experience. Their varied fillings and cooking methods contributed to a satisfying array of tastes.

However, the Bun Xao (Vietnamese Pad Thai) and Basil Mango Fried Rice, though somewhat enjoyed, didn't entirely meet expectations. These dishes, while flavorful, might benefit from further refinement to align more closely with personal taste preferences.

The beverages, including the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Lychee Smoothies, provided a mixed experience. While the smoothies were enjoyable, they leaned toward being overly sweet. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee offered a bold taste but fell slightly short of complete satisfaction.

Revisiting Grandma's Pan Fried Pork Buns, Steam BBQ Pork Buns, Steam Pork Bun, and the Classic Sandwich reiterated their consistent quality and enjoyable nature.

Overall, my dining experience at So Pho 88 showcased a diverse menu with highlights such as the steamed and fried buns, savory pancakes, and satisfying sandwiches. While certain dishes may require minor adjustments to better align with personal tastes, the restaurant's strengths in offering flavorful, well-prepared Vietnamese cuisine were evident throughout the meal.

This is one of my favorite Pho spots in NYC! The food is fresh, delicious, and a must try! I do wish that the restaurant was bigger, but the excellent customer service makes up for that.

SO delicious! Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but food and staff are absolutely amazing. I’m definitely coming back next time just for the spring rolls, pad thai, and bubble tea.

I was under the impression that the House special spicy beef noodle soup is Bun bo Hue but it it not! And it is also not Pho neither because the Pho noodle are different than the one they used for this soup. The broth only have chili oils.

After walking in Williamsburg, we found this little hole in the wall. I felt like Pho, so we wandered in. Ordered Pho with grilled chicken, General Tso's, and spring rolls with pork and shrimp. I really enjoyed the food and would go back. The downside was the utensils...not really enjoy eating with plastic fork and spoon for a sit down. The pho was hot, like I like it. The spring rolls were hot...and had a pickle salad, which was a very nice and tasty surprise.

Ordered take out from here, it was extremely late.
Food wasn't good - pho broth was not flavorful, meatballs had a very weird taste (only took one bite). Dumplings tasted like they were from premade/frozen.
Pretty sure I got very serious food poisoning 24 hours later. (yes, I did bring the pho broth to boiling on the stovetop first).

I got the stir fried soba noodles with shrimp to go and they were SO delicious. The portion pictured came out to about $13. The restaurant itself is small with mostly counter seating but the to-go food I got was so amazing I’ll definitely be back.
