I was a bit nervous about going to a new/different Clark County Social Service location because I had only visited the Pinto Lane location in the past. I must confess though that all my nervousness was plain silly because from the time I walked in and was greeted very nicely from the Security Guards to seeing that it is a much smaller location and not a waiting room full of bodies I was instantly put at ease. I was called to the check in counter right away and barely had time to sit down and found my worker calling my name to go through the door with her. Ms. Miller, my case worker, and Christine, who is in training, introduced themselves to me and then we began the assessment to find out if I was eligible for any services. I was pleasantly impressed with the way they treated me with care and interest in my situation. I hope that in the event anyone else has an appointment here at the MLK and Carey location and would like to know about a person's experience...I am giving the rating of 5☆'s because they definitely deserve every one of them. Thank u everyone here for an outstanding job and please continue to do what u do!!!

I'm so fed up trying to get assistance, been homeless for months, got some guy Daniel who works like 3 days/wk and leave voicemails every 3 weeks so that I never reach him even though I call right back, recording says he returns calls in 2 business days, been playing phone tag for a goddamn month

I have been an American citizen for 20 years, every week they charge $160 from my checks, why can't I get help since I have paid state taxes for a long time and they give those people who have just arrived and are a burden to the State a help without thinking twice something is happening here that is wrong because they give aid to people who did not work and smoke drugs and do not report or pay taxes without asking for proof. It seems to me that we are all ready to work, people who are addicted to drugs and who contribute should receive help.

I'm told to show up at 8 a.m. or earlier. I was on time, yet I'm still waiting at 11 a.m. I don't understand what's taking so long when there were about 5 or so people here ahead of me. I've seen at least 3 different workers come get people from the waiting room. They take about 15-20 minutes with them. I see them walk out, but nobody else is called back for almost an hour! What the hell is the point of telling people who are in need to come early and waste their day having them wait 3 hours or more just to be seen?! I had plans to job hunt again today, but that's just about put the window now because I ride a bicycle at the moment! Then they tell you only when you're already here that you have made a "set appointment" instead of a "return appointment" which gets you seen before people who have been waiting hours! Not only that, but the workers look and talk to you like you're some kind of bug to step on! This is completely unacceptable, and I'm just so disgusted at this blatant disregard for other peoples' time and needs!

We arrived early in the morning for a appointment. The first time I went I set a appointment. But they didn't tell me what paperwork I MUST BRING to have my application processed properly.
BEWARE: before you leave the office make sure you know what information you need to bring the next time you come especially if it's a emergency situation and you need assistance now . Also watch out for the Latina brunette case worker - she sympathetic to a point depending on the situation. If your a single adult with no children - they don't really have sympathy for your situation even if your butt is going to end up in the street because of their lack of giving information about the paperwork needed.

This review is not for this location nor directed at the staff. This is about CHAP. CHAP is handled by a private company, but the payments are made by social services. It's a joke. The case workers fail to respond, will ask over and over again for the same paperwork to delay the case, take weeks to respond once you send your paperwork, and then deny your application by lying. I spoke to a few people at Social Services, who confirmed that CHAP case workers will deny assistance applications claiming that they never received documentation when there is proof that it has been successfully sent and received.

I cannot believe that humans get treated this bad. My husband lost his job and I’m on disability. The only way we afforded paying rent these past two months was through family and my disability check. But there wasn’t enough money for our electricity bill. Put it this way it’s been a week sitting in the dark. This morning i called at exactly 8 and got through. The lady who picked was so rude and sounded like she just woke up. She asked my name and honestly kept repeating back to me the last name because she didn’t want to make a mistake. That took 15 minutes then all of a sudden click.😢😢😢

Rude, rude, condescending have no idea what Customer Service really is.
Act as though the benefit you get is coming from their paychecks. I’ve never been there but the folks who answer the phones (with the exception of one nice man) should not have jobs.
