Although the house exterior looks a bit gloomy, the interior is very grand. The grounds are extensive and well worth exploring. The main café was closed during our visit although the indoor seating area was available and dog friendly. The coffee shop service was a bit slow but it was busy. The toasties were very nice. Unusually there's no extra charge to visit the house.

A chance visit while in the area. We weren’t sure what planting was being organised as much of the garden was bare but the plans told the story. The house is worth visiting with lots of history and information while the grounds are vast and picturesque.
There was meant to be some apple event on but all we could find in the walled garden was some small wheelbarrows and labels for the different varieties.

A huge mansion house, lovely both inside & out.
The grounds hold both gardens & parkland, the latter being 'Capability Brown's' final landscape. Being the father-in-law of the lady of the house had its benefits.
There are two main walks for those wanting to stretch their legs & dogs are allowed on site to join you. Both walks take in the beautiful, large pool, which can be seen from the house but is worth a close-up visit. The short walk is less than an hour, the long around 2 hours.
There is plenty to see & do if you want to stay close to the house, making a lovely day out for all the family. Also, mobility aids are available if needed.
If you are in need of tea & cake, as I always am, then there are two café/tearooms on site. Only one was open when we went & service was excruciatingly slow, just a heads up there. Enjoy your day.

We visited last December on a cold morning. The staff were very pleasant. The walled gardens even though they were not in bloom, were fabulous to browse around. They were quite manageable by my husband who has walking difficulties. There is a book shop selling new and used books in the grounds.
We took our small dog along however he was not permitted inside the big house.
The interior was decked out for Christmas which was utterly delightful. The rooms were just so beautifully arranged.
Whilst I looked around the interior of the house my husband and dog had refreshments sitting in the courtyard, which was chilly in December however on a sunny day would be very pleasant.
This house is quite local to us but it’s definitely worth making a journey to visit as it is stunning.
There is a small play area outside for children too.

Another gem in the National Trust Crown, Berrington Hall is a beautiful house set in what was to be the final completed landscape design of Lancelot "Capability"Brown.
From my history point of view this was also the home of the great naval commander Lord Admiral Rodney. Thoroughly recommend a visit, not only the house but also walk the lake and parkland. There is good parking here, and a nice tea room in the old stables.
The staff are fantastic and have great knowledge of the hall and its history.

Beautiful place to visit with lots of different walks to di, the one around the lake is absolutely wonderful. You get to walk around the house which has some lovely rooms and there are plenty of clothes to dress up in to take you back in time. There is a lovely coffee shop on site, also there is a beautiful walled garden. Toilets on site, you could easily spend all day here with so much to see.
Cost is £15 per adult.
All in all a great day out. ?

A very well laid out house. Volunteers were great with those little stories on the house as one walked through each room. The gardens are lovely as is the walk around the lake. Good cafe
