Yesterday I attended Optimizing Your Website and Improving Your Internet Presence by Mike Pritchard of Pritchard Websites. What a wealth of information. With Mike’s 13 years of experience, he has a depth of knowledge that gives him a long-term perspective of this fast changing field and most succinctly, the ability to separate the wheat from the shaft, which he did admirably. There was lots of good information on websites and social media, but Mike was most animated about Google+, which is in his opinion, the most critical change in social media in a decade.
The event was a class for the Association of Professional Landscape Designers Washington Chapter - essentially small business owners, high on design experience, low on tech savvy and with a real need for on-line presence. My co-attendees were uniform in their praised. We even had one new member join, a long time landscape designer who joined the organization just so she could attend this event. She said that even with the annual dues included, the class was worth the investment. The only criticism I heard was that even at 2 hours, we wished it was longer.
Mike’s presentation was lively, interactive, informative, and encouraging - with lots of audience questions and solid answers. His enthusiasm and knowledge were contagious. Heck, here I am writing a Google+ review.
