I stayed at The Rag for seven nights as a reciprocal member of another club.

I was in London partly on business and partly there to attend a couple of social events. Being fortunate enough to stay in an oasis of calm like the Army and Navy club was a far better option than being in a hotel.

It's a traditional but very friendly club with a fine dining restaurant and two very good bars, as well as a beautiful library. Comfortable bedrooms as well

I ate there a couple of times. This included a bar meal and an excellent dinner in the restaurant overlooking St James Square.

Each evening on my return to the club it became my habit to stop off in the downstairs bar, where the very professional and friendly barman quickly got to know me and anticipate my usual drink.

The Rag became a home from home for me amidst the bustle of London.

It’s a private club so you need membership. Is a bit old fashioned but they seem switched on in terms of looking after members and great spaces for events. I attend the wine society dining club wine tasting there. Always a rollicking good evening.

Fantastic private club on the corner of Pall Mall and Saint James Square. This institution is like a living library of British history, featuring awe inspiring paintings depicting the defining battles that made the United Kingdom we know today. Membership is a little bit on the older side, which means you can enjoy quiet conversation in this institution. Perfect place for business meetings.
