horrible staff, left my grandmother in her room all day and let her get bedsores. she went in there to get rehabilitation for her leg so she could walk again and she went in there she was 130 pounds and when she left (in an ambulance) she weighed 94 pounds… when they initially examined her they said she had no fractures or broken bones and when we eventually took her out of there because she was so malnourished because they wouldn't feed her they would just set the food in front of her and leave turns out she had pneumonia and was aspirating (when she would eat the food would go into her lungs) so she couldn't eat even if she wanted to. in the hospital told us that if we wouldn't have took her out of there when we did she would've died. please don't put your loved ones in here.

After a 3 week stay in the hospital, My husband needed physical therapy. We could have Chosen a rehab facility in San Angelo but After I went and spoke with the staff here I knew that my husband would be in great hands. The physical therapy department did an amazing job and got him home sooner than was expected. The nursing staff took really good care of him. He was always clean and in good spirits when I would bring him his 6:30 am coffee. He said that he enjoyed the food he even tried foods that he would never eat. No matter what time I dropped in everything was clean and smelled great. My husband and I had no complaints. During his time there they had their annual Christmas party, my husband was given Christmas gifts. And I was given a gift knowing that he was taken care of. Thanks to all of the kind and caring staff I couldn’t of done it without you guys.

I was a resident at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab from late 2023 into 2024. When I admitted, I wasn’t in my best health. I could not walk, nor stand without falling. I can say I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The therapy I received was wonderful and effective. I am now up and walking with only the help of a cane. I can only applaud the nursing staff for their skill and the effort they put in with patients. The facility is also very well maintained. I appreciated the time I got to spend socializing with everyone from other residents to staff members. You could always feel that each and every staff member truly cared for you and your journey/wellbeing. BHRC is a great place to be! In fact, I still come back to join activities and visit!

My mother is currently a resident of the Ballinger Heathcare and Rehabilitation Center. We could not be happier with the care she receives . She had a massive head bleed and lost so much. They have worked with her in their therapy department and she is regaining so much. The nurses, cnas , and staff treat her so well. We have been very pleased with it all. You’re treated like family there. Please look into Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab if your family is in need.

Caring therapists that really spend one on one time with you in your personal sessions. Went one month, then I asked if I could continue for one more month to work on my other Shoulder. Yes was their answer, wanted to make sure I was comfortable and completely happy with my treatments, and exercises. My shoulders are way Better now, and I have plenty of exercises to keep me flexible, and stronger. Thanks to Mrs. Clark, and Mrs. Londerholm for taking care of my situation! I give them 100 STARS, and will go back if needed!

Many of nurse’s aids at this facility are incompetent and some are outright mean and neglectful. Workers on the daytime shift (7 AM-3PM) tend to be much better.

Update 6/3/2022:

Having moved to another retirement community in Frederick, and looking back again on my experience at Ballinger Creek rehab, it only reinforces my deeply negative view of that facility. It was simply awful in virtually every way. Assistants/Nurses routinely failed to respond to call button for 30-60 minutes, if at all. And when they did, I would often be told “I’ll be right back”, only to have them disappear altogether. There was an ingrained propensity to avoid work long enough to leave it to the next shift. The food sucked and although there was a menu to choose from, the food I received was frequently not what I requested, the quality was poor, and it was almost always late and cold. The photo is of a typically dirty glass. We often didn’t have the necessary flatware for the food we were served. My first meal there was a pork chop, too tough to cut with a fork, and no knives were provided. I had to pick it up with my hand and eat it that way. There were no knives for the next 5 days. At times there were no spoons. Come on!

There were a small number of standout employees, including Mariah, James, and the dialysis team, along with a few others whose names I have forgotten: Jody for one. The PT And OT staff (especially Cassie) were also nice although they had an annoying habit of showing up at random, unannounced times, rather than by prearranged appointment.

I would never, ever go there again. If you or your loved one has to, my advice is to try to get everything you need done, like toileting and bathing, on the daytime shift, and avoid Lucy at all costs.

The nurses and staff took care of my mother for three years. They treated her like she was their family. They also treated me well. I am grateful that Mom was there for the last three years of her life!
