Update: First, I called and asked to speak with Ebonee, and I was informed that she was “not in the office,” which speaks volumes about her lack of communication.

Second, as I mentioned before, my test incorrectly listed me as male — a mistake that raises serious concerns about the quality of care your office provides. With a diagnosis as serious as this, such an oversight should have been caught. Yet, in your response, you completely disregarded that point.

Your team has demonstrated incompetence, unprofessionalism, and a concerning focus on profit over patient care. For your information, prescribing HIV treatment without proper follow-up testing goes against standard medical practice. Due to these serious concerns, I have reported your office to the Board of Nursing. I strongly suggest you address these issues to prevent further harm to your patients.

On February 12th, I went in to establish primary care, and everything seemed normal. However, on February 19th, I received a call at work stating they needed to discuss my test results. They scheduled a video consultation for 5 p.m. that same day.

During the video chat, the doctor informed me that I had tested positive for HIV-1. Naturally, I was devastated and overwhelmed, as this is a serious diagnosis. I needed time to process the news, so I scheduled another video consultation for February 21st to ask questions. Wanting support, I asked my dad to join the call with me (I’m 20 years old, and I felt having an advocate would be helpful). However, during that consultation, the doctor abruptly said, “We’re not gonna do this like this” and ended the call without addressing my concerns.

Still full of questions, I scheduled another video chat that same day. During that call, the doctor prescribed Biktarvy — a powerful HIV treatment — without performing any follow-up testing.

I was later referred to a specialist and the health department for further evaluation, and all my subsequent tests came back non-reactive — meaning I was negative for HIV-1.

Upon reviewing my original test results from Ebonee Lyons’ office, I noticed that my records incorrectly listed me as male. To me, this suggests a potential testing error that the doctor should have caught.

This experience caused me significant emotional distress, and I strongly urge anyone considering this provider to think twice.
