This was my first time coming here. It was recommended by the rental car person, since I asked about Good Eats. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The greens were really good. The mac was decent, and the yams were tasty but a bit stringy. The pork chops should have been cooked longer, and whatever they put on them before they fried them should be looked at since the breading came right off and was a bit soggy. The place is small and the staff seemed to be uninterested in new customers so that's why I took my food to go. Overall, i would come back to try some other menu items and to get more greens, but probably to go again.

I first went to Madre and Son in December for my birthday 🎂 and I just left today 8 times I have gone back to eat The entire staff is amazing and MADRE is a very sweet woman her food is so good I hug her, Son is extremely busy but always says hello I adore that, Kim my server is pleasant courteous and professional, 10/10 Black owned clean beautiful inside and music that's a vibe please support this family business 🙏🏼 Excellent job everyone

I ordered smothered turkey wings with Mac and cheese and collard greens. To start off the smothered turkey wings or salty and not my type of food I was expecting better. The rice was hard and dry with no seasoning and the mac & cheese was bland. I had to add cheese to it the only thing that I enjoyed on my plate was the collard greens but if I eat everything together, it is OK. I also got the blue raspberry drink and it was really sweet overall, the customer service was not so great. The person on the phone stated that they would call us when the food was ready and we actually had to call them and ask them if the food was ready and they Later replied.

The food was phenomenal!!!! Also the service was the best part. Kim was very attentive, knew about everything on the menu and even let us try different things on the menu. We all felt very welcomed and had a great time even met some new friends. Definitely recommended. We will be back.

Another banger in Newark, I ordered the honey galic wings with mac and cajun rice. The cajun rice is like a jambalaya inspired rice with a spicy touch, it was on the salty side though. The mac and cheese was scrumptious if you cant tell from the photo. And lastly, the wings were great, fried to perfection and that honey garlic was on top! The servers were nice and took care of me without any problems. I don’t remember what drink I had, but it was good as well, it had the perfect touch of sweetness.

I'm going to start with the fact that the food is very very tasty. Yummy honey garlic wings and good mac and cheese. Good collards too! I ordered on grub hub for dinner and decided to order some additional eight "pieces" of chicken because it was for two. The main course said six "pieces". So I almost logged a complaint immediately because what I got was three wings. What I realized was two things 1) when you say pieces of chicken, my head goes to buckets of chicken where you get a drum/thigh /boob etc 2) I do math differently from this restaurant . To start, all the chicken "pieces" are just wings, not thighs etc. I would be fine with that but wings are not as generous meat wise, so I think one should specify to adjust expectations. Secondly every wing = two pieces. Instead of 8 pieces, I got 4 wings. I get it, times are expensive. I would certainly pay for good food though, but be honest with me about what I'm gonna get please. When I'm hangry, and I get about thirty five dollars worth of food, which I paid about 63 dollars (those additional fees kill) , it's disappointing. My husband can also really eat and I need to make sure he's full. I'm glad I ordered the additional six piece or we would be fighting to share a wing. If I had known, I would have just ordered more. I would eat from this place again cause the food was Good but just be informed about what you're getting.

We were headed to Patti show at the PAC . This was close by ordered and ate all in a matter of an hour. We were done and out to our show. I'm thinking they were about to close. So I believe they close early evenings. Lots of take out orders uber etc. Turkey wings were definitely spot on. Finger licking good literally! No one complained about any of their food. We took our leftovers back to the hotel heated them up for the after-party. I would definitely go back again to try other items on the menu.
