Sliced beef sammich was 10/10. Sauce on the side, that’s how I ride. Cold slaw truly exceptional not too wet, sweet or mayonnaise corrupted. Cold mug for my brew is a nice touch.

Don’t miss Sammy’s if you’re in Dallas. A proper BBQ outfit in the middle of towers was quite unexpected. The food was fantastic—both meats and sides. The prices were inexpensive by comparison to any good BBQ restaurant, much less one in the middle of the city. More importantly, the service; I arrived 10 minutes before closing (they still had all meats available and only mac and cheese was finished for sides) and they insisted I stay to eat. I didn’t eat quickly as I understood another couple behind me was also finishing up, however when I stood to depart it was readily apparent they were not customers and it was only me keeping employees from going home. Yet not once was I hurried. And when I apologized they were as gracious as ever. Overall, a fantastic experience I’m sure they’ll replicate for you if you choose to visit—and I highly recommend you do.

Update:
Visited again after 8 months, at opening on a Saturday. The service was exemplary once again—6 stars! The sides and atmosphere were fantastic again. However, the brisket was closer to chopped than sliced and overall dry. As it was a Saturday in a business district (components for being open at all!) it was possibly not the weeks’ best meat. Overall review will stay a 5, suggest being choosy on the day you visit.

I got the two meat platter with ribs and sliced brisket. Very bland. Even the barbecue sauce was bland. The baked beans, the server told me they were barbecue style, they were not. They were ranch style beans. The outside tables were rusted. I really think this place could be really good if you had a new chef, and a remodel! Very pricey!

I love fried okra. So, If the fried okra had been fresh, 5 stars all the way. The fried onion strings made up for it. I just thought if my onion rings were being cooked fresh that the okra should have been as well. It was just the contrast of hot fresh onion rings and fried okra that has been sitting out for a little bit. I'm still coming back, though. I'll just try a different side.

Sammy's catered our wedding eve dinner for family and friends in our home. Manny arrived with prepared food, serving dishes, plates, utensils, ice - EVERYTHING - and also served. As the bride and groom-to-be, we didn't have to turn on the oven, open the fridge, or wash a dish. He helped us make everyone feel so welcome and kept their glasses full. The crowd loved the brisket, turkey, mac & cheese, and spinach salad so much there were just a few bites left. And I almost missed the amazing peach cobbler. the food was home made, fresh, and perfectly prepared. It was such a relief to trust dinner to Sammy's - I highly recommend them to feed any crowd that appreciates good Texas BBQ! Since we didn't have the leftovers we hoped for, we went to Sammy's for a delicious chopped brisket sandwich lunch after the weekend's festivities.

My first time in Dallas, and I decided to go to Sammy’s for bbq. It was telling that the place was empty when I got there a few minutes after open. The barbecue itself was okay - I had brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and pork ribs. Meat was tender and sauce was nicely sweet and slightly smokey. BUT the meat was taken out of a warmer and had been wrapped in plastic wrap? which visually was not the most appealing.

I had two sides - Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The cole slaw had an distinct taste I was not a fan of (fridge burn? turning?) did not eat. The macaroni in the Mac and cheese was too soft and it was overall flavorless. Also did not eat. I ended up ordering onion rings which were pretty good - lightly seasoned and floured and perfectly salted.

Staff were polite and attentive, and the restaurant itself was clean, with very good soft drink options.

Wow! Fantastic Texas barbecue with all the trimmings. We have been eating at Sammy’s for longer than we can remember. But we moved out of town and don’t get to come here as often. We came for lunch today and it was amazing. My wife had the brisket and I had the turkey and both were perfectly smoked, tender and very flavorful. But the sides are out of this world as well. Great french fries and onion rings, both of which are prepared fresh when you order. They have homemade fried okra, coleslaw, and it goes on and on. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is in a great, rustic, Texas themed setting. It’s in the heart of uptown, and easy to get to from anywhere. I know this sounds like an ad but it’s just that it’s so good I want other people to discover it as well!!

My partner and I spent just $20 after tax for 2 meat plates that left us absolutely stuffed – that's an incredible value at just $10 per person! We did 2 meat plate- for the brisket and pulled pork, accompanied by sides of zucchini casserole and beans, plus 2 slices of bread. The self-service station offered a variety of pickles and warm BBQ sauce, adding a delightful touch. The staff were exceptionally generous, gifting us with fried okra. The value for money here is simply unbeatable.
