This think tank’s real purpose is masked by its plain name. The Social Science Research Council’s goal isn’t the advancement of science; it’s a utilitarian goal of conducting studies to inform social engineering to impose their personal values on the populace. Their stated mission makes clear their advocacy of progressivism, the ideology of the political far left. The SSRC is a social activist group with plans for us all.

Their favored device is what they call “interventions” to change people’s beliefs and behavior to make them (in progressives’ eyes) better citizens. They can’t be unaware of that word’s authoritarian implications in a political context. The fact that the SSRC has no problem with overt coercion and manipulation tells you all you need to know about their ethics. You’ll find little if any reference to individual rights and autonomy in their communications. What is best for society as a whole (as decreed by whoever holds power, the SSRC positioning itself as court advisor) takes precedence over individuals’ freedom to choose their own values, beliefs and actions. The SSRC is using social science to engineer their vision of a utopian society. Welcome to scientific socialism 2.0.

The academic cabal that is the SSRC are puppeteers in lab coats researching new and better ways to pull people’s strings to make them behave the way government wants them to behave. Here’s hoping the incoming administration throttles social engineers’ gravy train of NIH grants and ends the injustice of forcing taxpayers to fund research to develop more effective methods to coerce and control them.

Enablers of tyranny are dangerous, especially when their method is turning people into their puppets. These power-hungry professional dehumanizers need to be exposed. Make Orwell fiction again.
