So Jeff… how come you give so many places a 5 Star Review… I’m glad you asked…. I’m pretty much going to only give a 5 or 1 based on a first impression and then adjust accordingly if I return and feel differently. It’s pretty much based on if the place meets and exceeds the expectations being represented by the brand and branding of the individual location and the perceived value gained as a result of patronage to the establishment. That being said… this place, whole hog killed it. BBQ was great, awesome sauces on the side, as it should be in Texas. Prefect atmosphere, friendly folks smiling and taking your order menu at the front counter cafeteria style. All the sides were down home delicious.

My family and I have been coming here since since we moved to red oak in 2022. We coming almost every weekend and the food never disappoints. Their ribs is the best I have ever had!. My husband and kids always order the half slab plate, so feeling. Today I tried their fried catfish and omg. 🥰😍

Food.quality has gone down. Also, new meat cutter has no clue about customer service.He is too slow and does not pay attention to the customer.
The young ladies that work the line are the bright spot as they are very nice and seek to help the customer.

If I could give this local Soulman’s BBQ a ZERO, I would. Spent some time with my family last week because we were celebrating my mother’s birthday and we had so much fun that no one was ready to go home, so I went with my dad to grab some ribs to take home for us to eat. I don’t live out here, but I wanted to continue enjoying the day with my mother so we paid $64 for 2 slabs of ribs to only get home and not be able to eat, much less chew through them. I like to cuss, but for the sake of my parents’ seeing this, I’m gonna hold off. I don’t know how long the ribs were sitting under the heat lamp, so we told them we didn’t want those, to give us some out of the oven because the ones under the heat lamp looked old and dry. The counter person said they were fresh, but sir…we know what fresh ribs look like!! The sheer audacity…he said he went to the oven to grab some fresh ones, so we paid for our purchases. We asked for some extra bbq sauce because we had 2 slabs, what was an 8oz. container of sauce going to do for 6 people trying to eat ribs But anywho, we get home and those ribs were so dry, overcooked and ran through!!!! I almost broke a tooth trying to chew through this mess; look at them!! I’ve had better from the other locations around the DFW, but I was sooo disappointed in these, especially considering how I was craving BBQ anyway. It was such a waste of time. I’ve never been to Juniors out there, maybe I should!!!!

Staff was excellent. Food delicious and thanks for the great customer service… got the chuck wagon meal… reg and spicy sausage Mac and cheese beans and kids ribs plate…. Superb service

This BBq is not good and their morales aren’t good. Not sure if the owner has the same sentiments. Me and my nephew went into this restaurant. He has small dreads. They stayed their policy has racist rules weeding out black people with black hair. He told him that they don’t hire people with long hair. So they don’t hire women. It’s not long, it’s not even on his neck. It’s only whites and Hispanics who work there. I guess their hair is better. They definitely violated the crown act. Black boy trying to get a job and here we are in 2025. I looked at their website ahhhhhh I get it. Food nasty anyways. They could have just said no but instead this…

First time at this Soulmans location, not terribly impressed. We came on a Sunday evening, place wasn't very busy. The manager was professional and doing his best to get customers through the line, but the service was still very slow. The chopped brisket sandwich was dry and the meat was shredded, not chopped. Portions seemed a bit small. The sides tasted good, and the restaurant and bathrooms are kept very clean. I will likely stick to the Soulmans in Hurst, better service and their meat is tastier.
