I had heard of Union Street Social, so we gave it a try while we were in Emporia.
I had the Berry Dutch Baby. It's essentially a German baked pancake, with a hint of cinnamon- loaded with strawberries, blueberries, strawberry jam, and topped with fresh whipped cream. Super tasty & piping hot straight from the oven.
My husband had the Steak Hash with seasoned potatoes, onions, pablano peppers, steak, and queso fresco drizzled with Kimchi mayo and topped with a fried egg. It was just a tad over salted but wonderful flavor.
My husband had drip coffee, and I had a cappuccino. It's often hard to find a place that has both great food and great coffee, but Union St Social managed to be great at both.
Their service was friendly & attentive. Our waiter still managed to convince us, after we were all full up on brunch, to take a creme brulee home with us. 😆
We live over an hour away north (Lawrence) and I'd come back down to visit again - they are that good! Highly recommend folks give them a try whether you're passing thru on I-35 or looking for a new awesome spot to try - totally worth the trip!!

We had the most incredible dining experience at this restaurant! Passing through Emporia, KS, we stumbled upon Union Social. We accidentally arrived at 9:02pm, not realizing their kitchen closed at 9:00pm. Despite this, they graciously sat us and took our order. Our server was phenomenal, providing excellent recommendations and top-notch service throughout our meal.

A highlight of the evening was the Pistachio Old Fashion, a unique special that was absolutely delicious. For our main course, we enjoyed the surf & turf special. Every detail was awesome, from the vinaigrette dressing on the salad to the crab cakes and the tasty hollandaise sauce.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the steak. The moment it arrived, we knew it was going to be great. It had a beautiful, crispy sear all around, was perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend said it was the best steak he's ever had! The sear was perfectly crunchy, and the inside was exactly as we ordered it.

This dining experience was a true delight, and we can't wait to return! Thank you for taking us after kitchen close! Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant!

Phenomenal is the only word to describe this small town, but big personality restaurant! We came on a late evening nightcap and was absolutely astonished how much personality and character this restaurant has. The crab cakes were the star of the show as long with my crafted espresso martini. The pasta I had was a bit too greasy for my liking but other than that everything was perfect. I was passing through this small town and will come back if I have the opportunity to.

If you haven't been here, sit at the bar with Trenton. Top 50 bartenders in the world. IMO. The food is almost as good as he is a bartender. Whether an old fashioned or an anejo margarita made with ege whites, he makes the best drinks. The have specials of the week. Good - delicious. I wish I could transport this place to New Jersey. One love

PS: the guy crushes his own ice for drinks using a canvas bag filled with ice and a wood hammer.

This place rocks so much that I saw Dorothy at the bar with Toto sipping a Negroni. Negroni cocktails are wonderful. Great laid back cool atmosphere. Food was delicious. So accommodating that they grilled the fish instead of fried it for the tacos. All of Kanasa agrees.....this place is 5-star!

The Bestest!!!

I recently visited Union Street Social with a party of four, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Our server, Nathan, provided outstanding service—attentive, friendly, and professional. We were seated in the back, where the ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for an enjoyable evening.

Now to the food—everything was absolutely phenomenal. For starters, we had hummus with chicken as an appetizer. It was fresh, flavorful, and set the tone for the rest of the meal. I ordered truffle fries with rainbow trout (or maybe salmon—either way, it was amazing). Others in the party enjoyed shrimp pasta, filet mignon, and a perfectly cooked steak. We also tried the brussels sprouts, which were crispy and seasoned just right.

The dessert was equally impressive—we indulged in a creamy and delicious custard crème brûlée. For drinks, I had two, including a margarita and an old-fashioned. The cocktails were well-crafted and reasonably priced compared to big-city prices (seriously, a drink like this in New York would easily be $28).

The chef deserves five stars. Every dish was cooked to perfection, from the flavors to the textures. It’s clear this place is run by someone with exceptional talent and passion for food. Even the cost of the meal was minimal compared to the quality we received.

Overall, Union Street Social is a must-visit. Great food, excellent service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to return. Highly recommend!

Cozy Eclectic vibe. We went to Brunch on a Sunday and loved USS. First time visiting and will go back next time we're in Emporia. Had the Dirty Happy Camper, but everything looked good. They have sofas and easy chairs and can imagine it would be nice to have a coffee snuggled up in front of the fireplace.

Absolutely fantastic. The restaurant decor and the music played is perfect. The food is incredible and the service is great. We were there on a Thursday and went back the next day because we loved it so much!! We had the burger, chicken sandwich, Kansas City strip, fish and chips, truffle fries and the bee sting over the 2 visits. Oh and the crème brûlée was ahhhhhmazing!!
