It’s neat that they validate parking for 2 hours in the valet. The food was really good, traditional canton taste. Servers are quite busy though and hard to get their attention. Food wise it’s there, don’t have to look further if your in the neighborhood for that sort of food

Good dim sum with fast friendly service. Went on Sat morning. Friendly staff auntie walked around with porridge and beef tripes, fried stuff eggplants, rice noodle Chinese donuts etc. Wish I could eat more as two of us were stuff with steam dim sum already. Reasonably price. Not a fancy restaurant but it is convenient located at the heart of Chinatown. Lots of local uncles and aunties enjoying their dim sum.

I ordered the house special fried rice and the #3 pork dim sum. My table also order the #2 and the walnut shrimp. Honestly the fried rice was pretty bad. Really dry and no flavor whatsoever, barely any meat, seriously do not order it. The dim sum #3 was ok I could see myself eating that again but the #2 was not good. The walnut shrimp was ok but I wouldn’t recommend it. Overall I would not come back here. We didn’t even finish the food.

I was here for a memorial service for a woman who made a big difference in the disability community.

Easy to find- there is an English sign in yellow above the Chinese version visible high on the street level facing the street before you get there.

Easy parking- street parking and valet are very accessible even on a busy weekend at around 11am.

Food we received for the services was very good. As a Chinese American, I tend to have higher standards, and they were very good, fresh, and there was a lot of good service in spite of how many were being served at one time. A lot of our members had special needs, and everyone seemed happy.

My only complaint was the closest bathroom was not easy to work with, though it was relatively clean. There was no lock on the door. Someone with problems lifting the chair to close the door in place would be easily walked in on by strangers. They did have a better bathroom at the front of the restaurant. However, for many of our guests with special needs, the walk was too far to make it worth the trip. If you are eating at the main restaurant area and not in the back banquet hall, or if you are less shy this would not be a concern for you.

Peak Dim-Sum done fast right here in Chinatown. Golden Dragon gets extremely busy so its best to go on off hours either right as they open or after the lunch rush.

Recommend a lot of their dishes, most are hits like the Pork Buns, Wonton Soup, and Shumai, and others seems like pandering towards an LA audience like anything deep fried. I’ve seen them go table to tables and try to peddle dishes that probably don't sell as well or are sitting.

Also if you NEED America style service where they hold your hand and act nice, do not come here. This is authentic Chinese food, service is not going to be great, and most of you will think staff is rude because you need to flag them down, but thats how you can tell a good restaurant apart from a bad one, their food is SO GOOD.

10/10 would definitely recommend coming with a larger group so you can taste everything on the menu.

I truly enjoy that this establishment is still going strong over the years. Ordered takeout here and was impressed by the large portions. My only complaint is that they go a little too heavy on the sugar / corn syrup. Chinese style eggplant with garlic shouldn’t be that sweet! The beef chow fun and fried shrimps were lovely.

Otherwise though loved it here and order here regularly 🙂

Randomly stopped in because we were in the area and wanted dim sum.

The good items - shu mai, spare ribs in black bean sauce (loooove the pumpkin or sweet potato they put at the bottom of the dish), and the tripe. The chicken feet were decent.

The baked bbq pork baos would’ve been good but their meat mixture was too mushy. It needed more to their mix.

The rice noodle rolls we wouldn’t order again. The shrimp in them were super fishy tasting like not fresh. So I didn’t even bother trying the meat one my friend ordered.

Service was good. Everyone was very nice and attentive! Refilled my water, stopped and asked if we needed more items or wanted anything off the trays. Very nice service.

Parking - it’s DTLA. You’re either paying for street meter parking or paying for a lot parking space. We luckily found a metered space open right out front of the restaurant.

Very dark interior. Staff is nice, but like any Chinese place you really have to flag someone down. Sucks when you don't have a loud voice that cuts through the noise. Took them a while to clear out our table of the finished plates. This time, I was asked what kind of tea I wanted, which is a big improvement from the time before, where they didn't even ask us what type of tea we'd like, they just came with some very weak lukewarm tea --possibly it was Jasmine?
This place used to have the push carts before the pandemic, but like most places have gone to the checkbox menu selection. Very limited selection too. That's kind of a disappointment, but at least it makes choosing easier. Their shrimp was sweeter than the last time I was here, but still weren't snappy, which is OK for older folks who don't have the energy to chew on things, but worrying for the freshness. It affects the 蝦餃 (Shrimp Dumpling) & 蝦腸 (Shrimp wrapped in Rice Noodle Sheets). Last time I was here 2 years ago, they give 5 蝦餃 to a "cage"/plate, which was nice, but now like most places only give 4. Another thing they do, is sometimes push certain items, by having someone stop by with a tray with additional items. In actuality, it's the hard-selling stuff, but that's not the point. I guess before dim sum push-carts were a thing, they were brought out in trays, which is more traditional. But if your restaurant was popular, trays allowed you to get more food out quicker, and kept warm when brought out, or some stuff would even be cooked on the spot.
But back to the food... Some items are slightly bland for my palate, but still passable. They do an OK job of frying things, that it's still crispy.
