The location is fantastic, the hotel service is really good, they have the dress code to use their restaurant and cafe. It's old property but feels very historic American feel to it. Highly recommend staying in downtown Chicago

I have been a member since 1998. I stay here whenever I need a room downtown. The rooms are wonderfully appointed, albeit somewhat cozy (like many grand, older hotels). The food, athletics, event space, spa, barber shop, and other amenities make the club better than any hotel you could hope for. There's a reason I've been been a member for more than 25 years!

If you’re into modern, bright, and open-feeling spaces, then the Union Club won’t suit your tastes. But if you like dark wood, marble, gold fixtures, and art that harkens from another time period, you’ll love the space. As an event space, it has a couple of idiosyncrasies. The few elevators feel slow so it may be quicker to walk. You may have to go up or down a couple of flights of stairs to access a restroom. The staff is attentive to your needs but don’t convey the warmest feeling. Overall, I felt like I was in a time warp with a glimpse into how life operated in a bygone era.

The staff were wonderful, particularly Jacqueline. Even though I'm not a ULC member (I'm a reciprocal member through the Crescent Club in Dallas), she definitely treated me like one -- she helped me plan my surprise proposal and even got us the amazing President's Hall. She went above and beyond, and I couldn't have pulled it off from Dallas without her. Plus, ULC has an incredible collection of art, and the food at The Wigwam was fantastic. Overall, we had a blast!

We used this facility for a business meeting. Everything was very well managed. Make sure you take the opportunity to check out the great art collection this facility holds.

This hotel is probably the most disgusting place I have ever stayed and I can't even afford a room there. I was invited, which is apparently the only way you can stay unless you are a member. I don't know what members are paying for but a Hilton is cleaner than this place.

Not only are the rooms severely outdated but the bathrooms are disgusting. I have honestly never been so traumatized by a shower. Over $600 for 2 nights and this is what I am subjected to along with bed stains and mysterious construction noises.

Absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed.

*UPDATE*

To JaelS who responded to my review below, I have never met nor talk to you in my life. I don't know who you think you talked to and made things right with but it wasn't me. Clearly you guys have a serious mold issue at this hotel cause you are making things right with other people. This is honestly embarrassing for you.

Stayed here recently when I was in town for business. I chose the hotel because I thought it would be a unique experience, but ended up being disappointed overall. I didn’t spend much time on site so my main criticism is regarding the room. The room I was given was extremely outdated and showed very visible signs of excessive wear and tear. I understand there are a lot more amenities for the union league club, but I do not plan to stay here again just for the hotel nor would I recommend it. Beyond the room, the staff were very nice and it’s in a great location.
