JoEllens really was a great experience. The vibe, the staff, the drinks and food were amazing!! I love love love our server Shanda!! Had amazing recommendations and amazing energy. I will definitely visit again.

If I could, I would give the food 6 stars...absolutely delicious...it reminded me so much of the meals my Mama served when I was growing up. Everything was fresh, seasoned well, and hot. However, the service/wait time was unacceptable. When I spoke with the manager he cited a large party had all orders delayed. But while reading reviews I see wait times are an on going issue. I had a party of three and it was literally one hour from the time we were seated and placed our orders before we received our meals. Meanwhile, I see folks getting their food who were seated 15 - 30 minutes after my party was seated. I'm no restaurateur, but it seems to me the problem is a lack of efficiency. Efficiency can make or break a business...Jo Ellen's is in a great location, nice ambience, great music, and DELICIOUS food. They have to get the service/wait times right. I spoke with the manager to express my disappointment/grievances and he discounted our meals. The discount was unexpected but appreciated. The next time I'm in Tallahassee I want to try Jo Ellen's again and hopefully I will see improvement. I provided an overall rating of 2 due to the unacceptable service/wait time.

Decided to have breakfast here and I am totally happy with my decision. I ordered the salmon croquettes w/ eggs, cheese grits and wheat toast. My husband had the sampler bkfst called "my endless love" which consisted of shrimp & grits, eggs, sausage patties, 2 pancakes and hash browns. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, hot and flavorful! Our server was great and the atmosphere of the restaurant is great! We would definitely come back to patronize this restaurant.

Tonight was my first night here. Very friendly staff and the food is amazing. The atmosphere was well lit and environment welcoming. I had the “We Belong Together” entree with a side of collard greens with Turkey….. absolutely amazing! Only small things kept it from being perfect like forgetting silverware with the meal but it came to us moments afterwards so all in all still a five star evening.

So we came to this restaurant after it was recommended by a co-worker who swears this food is good. I have read the reviews too. So here is our experience. We came for lunch about 100pm. They had a buffet or menu. I don’t like buffets so we ordered off the menu. First parking is difficult because it is Tallahassee so you can’t hold that against the restaurant. We ordered the appetizer sampler which was really good. I recommend you try it if you have not been here before. The deep fried deviled eggs were good and the collard greens dip smiley flavor was nice, the wings that were in the sampler were huge. We had the shrimp and grits and the catfish sandwich. The shrimp and grits had lots of shrimp and it’s sausage and could have been more cheesy, but overall good. The sandwich was good but it could have had tomato. We will come back.

Food has good potential but it took long to come out and it was room temperature as if it was sitting and didn't seem fresh. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pasta and the sauce was thick & noodles were cool, definitely had to be sitting. The music was enjoyable for awhile. The service however was terrible. The waitress we had was not attentive to our table however, she made time to go talk to the bartender. When we finally got our food we had no utensils and had to ask another waitress because our waitress made it back to the bar to talk. Had to ask for condiments, nothing was placed on the table to prepare for food consumption. She did not check in to see if we needed anything. My husband asked for refills her response was "Oh ok". Didn't ask how we were, if we needed anything or how the food was. There's room for improvement.
