Epic, once in a lifetime experience. Incredible that this enormous scientific instrument was designed with slide rules and pencils. Glad I was able to contribute a small part to it's continued success and discovery.

Goldstone deep space is awesome. They offer tours to the public but you need to make an appointment first. The site is huge, and it's in the desert so dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes. Lots of space goodies are given out to guests and it's a great opportunity to learn about space. Make sure you bring a government issued ID and the registration for your vehicle, you'll need both to enter the facility.

Take a drive through history. Goldstone has been a crucial part of America's space presence from the beginning. As part of the Deep Space Network, it is a crucial link to every spacecraft that flies beyond low earth orbit. Visit Apollo station and feel the living history of the moonshots. The star of the show is in Mars Valley: DS14, 70 meter antenna. It is breathtaking to behold and difficult to grasp exactly how big it really is.

You'll need to make an appointment in advance and everyone in your party must pass a background check. You'll be driving your own vehicle on Federal land. All traffic laws are strictly enforced by military police.

All in all a great place to visit and bring your children. Bring a lunch, too.

Cool place but the people there act really deep but are actually kind of spacey when they try to communicate. Was cool to see the gold in the stone though, would recommend others check it out cause it's really out of this world.

This location shares the responsibility of communication with all the deep space satellites with Madrid, Spain and Canberra, Australia. They trade off depending on global positioning.

The antenna arrays here are located miles apart preventing interference issues between these massive dishes.
