The 2.3 rating speaks for itself. More negative reviews than positive. I have had to call numerous times to go over denied claims with my HRA card to get them covered! Proper paper work will be turned in but they can never seem to process things correctly, or will process one prescription but when the next one comes through they will find an "issue" and kick it back. There is no straight across the board policy for how they handle the claims and one agent will say something while another will contradict that statment. Its frustrating and they need to do away with this proccesing! As a participant we should not be doing the jobs of those hired to process the claims!

I called the southern California pipe trades health and welfare and was the 7th caller in line on 12/5/24. 30 min I waited and someone finally answered and asked if I can hold AGAIN. I’m waiting another 10 min and I can hear the girls eating and talking because they forgot to put me on hold and just out the phone down. Jasmine gave the girl who answered my call food and while she was eating it she said “thanks jasmine how did you know I was hungry” I then repeat HELLO. And they put me on hold now. Never answered the phone I waited 45 min. They are always so unprofessional when you call this office.

As far as insurance goes I think it’s fine, I don’t have a problem with the insurance itself here’s my issue…

They lost our son’s birth certificate. We sent our son’s birth certificate via certified mail along with the other paperwork they needed. Somehow they received all the paperwork except the birth certificate? Or at least that’s what they’re claiming. They lost it and aren’t taking responsibility for it. I heard this isn’t the first time they’ve lost someone’s birth certificate. I wish I would have known prior to sending it that I could bring it to the union hall and have them scan it and send it to them. That would have saved us a lot of trouble.

On another note we were excited that they added the app so we could download receipts etc and use the card they sent us for medical/dental expenses. The biggest problem is we cannot get into the app because a security question got answered incorrectly, and for whatever reason the password no longer works. They make it extremely difficult to get help to fix the issues. You can’t just click a button to reset password or reset security question. Everything has to be done over the phone and because we aren’t married I don’t have the authority to do it myself. This means he would have to do it at work (not an option) as they basically have the same work hours.

My husband has insurance through these people. He gave them his social and his birth certificate... they put his birthday in the system incorrectly so how he's stuck with a $40,000 medical bill that no one wants to help him with and we have a baby on the way.. filling out forms for them is ridiculous but it's necessary. My husband can't fix this issue his self because he has to go to work way before they open and by the time he's off their closed. They should have a 24 hour call center ... Be careful and double check the information they have on you before it's put into their system.

I just had to show some love to PIpe Trades and the gals that answer the phones. They always seem to be able to answer all my questions. I am kind of surprised at all the negative reviews of the insurance itself. My husband has provided insurance for my two girls and myself for the past 20 plus years through the trust fund. I haven’t heard of any other plan that is only $250 deductible per person but not to exceed 750 per family.
I failed to catch the name of the woman I spoke with today, but she was so awesome! I brought up the fact that I had read the reviews and I was surprised of how many negative reviews there were.!i told her how great they have all been through the years, which I hope made her feel appreciated.
I hope you read this and realize that I am talking about you!
THANK YOU TO ALL THE REPRESENTATIVES AT PIPE TRADES! 😉

Myself or my wife have never had a issue. I have never had it better. The facts are there are people that are handling your benefits to make your life better and easier to deal with. You get what you put in it. You work, you receive benefits!
Sometimes pending the amount of service people it does take a while to get through but once you get on call you understand that they care and they are not rushing through your dilemma.
I feel that if people read the package to h derstand they’re personal responsibility to the benefits plan then the paperwork involved with medical/401k/retirement would be easier to deal with.
Please be kind to these people so at the end of the day they can continue to help others in a good mood

The insurance is terrible. Criminally bad. No preventive care is covered, which is crazy. The reimbursement process takes forever, and they deny everything (typically stating that I didn’t include something that I actually did). When I call, they are so rude and evasive. 0/10 would NOT recommend

What a joke. Everything gets denied. Even with proper receipts provided. You ask and provide what has bem requested and it's still denied. Impossible to get a hold of anyone without hour long waits.
