Decided to try this place after sobra mesa closed in the same spot. I believe it is the same owners and for sure much of the same staff, with a remade concept. The restaurant itself is still very nice - big bar at which I ate (single) and a separate dining room. Given my dissatisfaction with the former cuisine I did not have high expectations this time. But I believe this time may work out better for them. There are few decent Italian restaurants in the area, whereas there is heavy competition in good Mexican food.

My daughter and her husband have gotten takeout and dined in once and warned me it might be inconsistent. We shall see. I believe they have potential.

The wines are not clearly explained. Just “light” or “not so light”. Cute but uninformative. Wine prices by the glass are on the high side. I tried one that was supposed to be similar to a Pinot noir. It was terribly bitter. It was then replaced with a Barbera. Much better.

I wanted to graze so avoided large plates. Ordered the meatballs appetizer and the eggplant ricotta crepe. This place also serves pizza (which are basically flatbreads so don’t expect decadent crust) so the meatballs were the standard pizza-style rubber balls. Sauce was flavorful but they were too chewy. The eggplant crepes- which I can only describe as “quesadilla-like” were wonderful. Very light but full of flavor (I asked to hold the truffle oil, which can overpower). I’d order those again, with a bit less pesto on top as there is plenty of basil inside. It’s a small app but nice. That dish is a winner.

Service was experienced and quite knowledgeable. When I commented on the meatball texture they did acknowledge- “Well yeah we know that.”

On a Friday night they were pretty quiet. I hope they make it. I will come back when I’m visiting the daughter again and try a couple of other dishes.

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of dining at the bar of Sul Tavolo, and it was nothing short of an exceptional experience—great service, a welcoming atmosphere, and a fantastic meal.

I ordered the swordfish, and from the first bite, it was clear that the kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing. Perfectly cooked, the fish had a beautiful sear on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. Paired with the right accompaniments, each bite was balanced and flavorful, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients.

To complement the meal, I enjoyed a glass of wine, expertly offered by the bartender, to enhance the dish. The pairing was spot on, bringing out the subtle flavors of the swordfish while adding a touch of indulgence to the experience.

The service was attentive yet relaxed, exactly what you’d hope for on a Sunday evening. Whether you’re looking for a solo meal with great conversation or a casual yet refined dining experience, Sul Tavolo delivers. I’ll definitely be back!

You cannot go wrong here! Delicious flavorful food. Jaime's monkey bread is irresistible. Salads are simple but fresh and bursting with flavor. Shrimp risotto, meatballs and calamari all exceeded expectations. Pizza light thin crisp just too good. We never order dessert but tried the lemon custard which was sublime. Service was fantastic and the space is warm and cozy. Great night.

Really comfortable, warm atmosphere and delicious dishes to boot. A simple menu but thorough. You can have a brilliantly balanced meal and drink in a very comfortable space. Highly recommend the pull apart bread.

As soon as we walked inside, I was very impressed with the looks of the restaurant. The food was amazing and I would especially recommend the parmegiana. (Recommend by the bartender). Had a good experience with tiramisu as well. (I’m not a coffee drinker but it was very smooth and I ordered two). We were served by a very kind bartender. Overall, it was a filling and delicious experience. I will come back.

This restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with exceptional service. Our server/bartender Wander was fantastic, recommending a great sangria snd margaritas to complement our meal. The monkey bread was beautifully presented and delicious. Calamari was so good and the pizza was a perfect ending to a satisfying dinner, also they offered a really nice and tasty desserts!!! making Sul Tavolo a recommended spot for Italian cuisine!!!

Would like to echo what another recent reviewer brought up- a very generic, watered down Italian concept has taken the place of once amazing Sobre Mesa. You can find better pizza in the same town and make better pasta in your own home. The flavors left a lot to be desired and they have simplified the bar into an embarrassment. It is clear this was a business choice to focus more on a take out model. Sad.

What a great experience at Sul Tavolo!! Me and my husband were in the area and found Sul Tavolo on Google. We decided to give it a shot, and we will certainly be back! We split the meatballs and tri colore salad for appetizers. The meatballs were juicy and tender, smothered in a red sauce that was to die for. The salad was a crisp and refreshing off set from the savoriness of the meatballs. We also split a margarita pizza for our main, which was cooked to perfection!! Service was amazing and attentive. So glad we found this gem.
