Yang Chow lives up to the hype!

I visited Yang Chow for a Saturday lunch and got seated fairly quickly, although a waiting list formed as soon as we got seated. We ordered the sizzling rice soup, which had a really unique, crunchy texture and was perfect with some chili oil; and the famed slippery shrimp. The slippery shrimp was just incredible and honestly indescribable. It’s like the most perfect American Chinese food, and the portion was big enough for two people.

Would definitely return, ideally when the lines aren’t too long!

Food was great! A cozy Chinese restaurant. A host was a little unfriendly but other staff was ok. Slippery shrimp was really delicious as reputation. Everything was great except mapo tofu. It was a little bit bland.

Food is always good here. The service is always not so friendly. But the food makes up for it. Went for chinese new year. No reservations. Walk in only. Could definitely pass on cocktails, not great.
Would recommend slippery shrimp, spicy wontons, beef lo mein. Not so much the soup dumplings

Service of this place is good. That would be understatement. It’s inexpensive and the best Chinese I have had in California. . Had yang chow fried rice and 12 piece fried dumplings. Both were great. Would definitely be back for more

Love the nostalgia of this restaurant! It’s my first time here despite this place being opened 40+ years & I’ve lived in SoCal almost my entire life!! Food was alright, nothing great. Service and ambience was great with the 90’s Hollywood vibe.

Yang Chow lives up to its reputation for serving authentic and delicious Chinese food. The flavors are rich, the portions are generous, and every dish feels true to its roots. Their signature Slippery Shrimp is a must-try, packed with bold flavors and just the right amount of crispiness.

Despite being a busy spot, the service was impressive. The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, making sure we didn’t have to wait long for our food. It’s rare to find a place that balances quality and speed so well, especially during peak hours.

If you’re craving authentic Chinese cuisine with great service in a lively atmosphere, Yang Chow is definitely worth a visit!

I was in the area craving Chinese food and decided to try Yang Chow after seeing the high reviews. They have convenient valet parking in the back, which was a nice touch. Even though it was busy, the wait was only around 20-25 minutes, and once we were seated, the service was impressively fast. The fried wontons were so crispy and light – a perfect start to the meal! I tried the orange chicken, slippery shrimp, and kung pao chicken, and all three are absolute must-tries. My favorite, though, was the hot and sour soup – it had the perfect balance of flavors. I also noticed that the manager is very hands-on and clearly cares about the restaurant and providing exceptional customer service. I’d definitely recommend Yang Chow to anyone looking for amazing Chinese food with top-notch service.
