This is an honest, impartial review from a Yucca Valley homeowner, and the owner of a business with an A+ BBB accreditation.

TLDR; I have very high standards when working with service technicians, and my experience with Nielsen Fire and Ice literally couldn't have been better. I would give more stars if I could.

Details:

• I solicited the local Morongo Basin private online groups for a recommendation for residential HVAC, and everyone highly praised Nielsen Fire and Ice.

• I called the company, and the woman who took the call was serious, professional, LOCAL, and extremely friendly.

• The owner--Nate Nielsen--visited my home for a site inspection. I found him to be serious, professional, knowledgeable, and extremely conscientious. He represents his brand exactly the way I represent mine.

• I was given two options to resolve my issue; one a lower-priced quick fix, and one a more costly holistic resolution. After some fact-checking, I went with the more costly option. I appreciated that there was NO SALES PITCH, just facts.

• Nate's communication was prompt, clear, and reassuring. I felt adequately oriented throughout the process.

• The team who arrived to do the work was really just the nicest and most professional group of guys you could imagine. No loud radio, no goofing around, just serious dudes here to do a job and wrap it up. Very respectful of my family, my property, and my specific requests -- such as "please use text, don't call".

• They did a 3-day job--full HVAC system replacement--in two days, and left the house SPOTLESS. I work from home, and these guys were silent as ninjas. Well, ninjas with power tools. LOL.

• Before leaving, there was a full walkthrough, all questions answers, all concerns addressed, and I truly felt like I'd not only acquired a good HVAC company for future services, but made friends in the community.

I run a BnB and I am very busy in the summer w/ bookings.. and we all know, it's very hot in the summer.
Issue first started in the summer where my A/C would not cool. Nielson Fire n Ice came and did an inspection and said I needed a new thermostat. The tech said, "Everything else looks fine, system is running normal". I replaced the thermostat - $150
Two weeks later, guests complain the AC won't cool down. Had to give them a refund. Fire n Ice recommended to install a hard kit - $450
2 days later, new guests complain. Same issue. More guest refunds.
Fire in Ice recommends basically a full A/C replace (Condenser, Piston, pressurize and evacuate lines, etc) - $5,225 (reduced by $300 after I requested a discount - this was the best they'd offer).

3 days laters - same issue. Fire n Ice came back.. not sure what they did but managed to get it to temporarily work? Had to refund guest that were there.

Next 5 days did testing and seemed to work.
Cleaners check day of guests arriving and SAME ISSUE! WILL NOT COOL! Fire n Ice can't make it to my house in time. Had to cancel guests entire stay.
Fire in Ice installed a new board - $550.

My thought is they still don't know what the issue is and just tried something new every time to see what would stick... costing me loads of money.

So after all that, I'm out approximately $7,500 from Fire n Ice and guest refunds.
And now, fast forward THREE months later, I get ANOTHER invoice for $100.

Avoid at all costs.

Great company..we loved are experience with a local business. The new unit was installed and we are so happy our house is now so comfortable. Came home to a very hot house. It was 91°. I had my swamp cooler fixed from fire and ice like a month ago called them today and even though they were booked they still made a way to come take care of me. I appreciate you Nate for coming out and taking care of me. If you guys need anyone to fix your air or swamp cooler, I advise you to contact fire and ice.

Fire and Ice recently installed a new packaged unit for my mom. After deciding the old unit needed to be replaced, they came out the next day for the install. I was blown away by how quickly they were able to put us on the schedule! They were professional, easy to work with, and communications were prompt. I highly recommend Fire and Ice.
